Ted put in three shelves with a lip on each and a light.  I use it as my pantry.  We got a white sealed port from a discount marine store for the door.  I think I have photos.

We have a pantry behind the shower wall with 3 shelves and a light.  It is great!  We found the wasted space when we were installing a new shower facet.

    Hi Dawn,

We use plastic baskets and wire stands to stow spices, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce coffee, creamer, sugar, etc.  It can be entertaining to watch me prepare sandwiches when we are racing.  Ted bought me some of those silicon gel squares last year at the boat show.  They are great to keep things from sliding around on the counter tops.  I am going to try to rig them in the locker to help keep the baskets in place.

I would look at getting the one Garhauer makes for the bottom of the boom vang
and just attach it to the mast.
    Good luck,

Ted Riley here.  Hull #175.  I keep mine stored on the mast.  I installed a track with a running car and line.  When stowed the car is at the top and the pin end is at the bottom of the mast.  When ready to use it I attach the toping lift, slide the car down to the height I want, extend and attach sail.  I like the arrangement because it does not take up deck space.  If you can find a Harken catalog they have a diagram of the system in it.  I actually used a Forespar system.
    Good luck,

I’ll have to agree with the previous response (Titus).  I would not fill in the hole.  I like having a massive collection point for water.  All boats, new or old, have leaks.  I have been in some heavy seas on the nose sailing close hauled and taking a lot of spray over the bow for a 2 or 3 day period.  Some of that spray did find its way to the bilge.  I feel if I had  a smaller bilge I could of had water sloshing around on the cabin sole if the bilge pump failed.   Of course the way to prevent that is to stay on top of the condition of the bilge pump.  I do check the bilge often at sea and I feel a large bilge is a good back up to an unknown weak bilge pump.
    Good luck.

They are originally from St. Petersburg, FL,  also.  Ted and I were on Whoosh before they left for the Puddle Jump last year.  Look at picture #18.  You will see Whoosh Logbook in the photo.

It’s Whoosh.  I hope Jack and Pat are ok.  I never thought that they would stop sailing.  They are really nice people.
