My Cummins came with an electric pump installed. It is after the Racor. It
is energized by the key switch. I have no idea of the brand but when I was
draining the old tank to remove it I used a $40 universal fuel pump from
NAPA that worked just fine. I think that any fuel pump would work just
fine.
You have obviously changed the fuel filters and checked that the lift pump
is working in your bleeding process. I wish I’d saved the pump from my old
engine so you could swap them out and see if that was the problem. Good
luck with it.Linus

I ended up with a smaller chock and I put a stainless plate under to cover
the area where the old chock was. I don’t like them because the edges are
sharper and the angle is wrong but it was all that I could come up with at
that time. It just amazes me that there are not larger ones available. I
have thought of going with hawser pipes like I think it was Jubilee. But
till I hold those in my hands I don’t know if they would be easier on the
lines or if that is the solution.Linus

I had to replace mine about four years ago. I still have one that no longer
matches the new ones. I will send it if I can find it. Shoot me your
address and I’ll look for it on Monday and see if I can get it in the mail
to you.Linus

While we’re in the Harbor Freight catalog I’ve used this:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=94029 it’s
a small dust collector that I can keep in the cockpit while working down
below. It doesn’t catch it all when the grinder gets going, but it gets
most of it. I think it will be a big help when refinishing the woodwork in
the cabin also. I use the collection ends that I use on my large collector
in the shop at home. Big funnels or wide flat collectors depending on what
I need to catch.Linus

Sorry I didn’t get back, I was out of touch for the past couple of days. I
have the adapter and I intend to make a short cable from an old shore power
cord with a new end just for the purpose of running the generator. Of
course I’ll wait till after I have a chance to use it a few times to
determine the right length. I just ordered mine today so I can get it right
before it gets too hot.Linus

ParticipantI have seen enclosures for the Honda to be mounted on trucks and trailers that don’t seem to have much in the way of louvers or openings for air. Being air cooled I had been afraid to put the generator a box but after looking at those I was thinking of using a cheap Igloo cooler that I could drop the generator in and have a deck plate at each end to allow air in and also cut down on noise while protecting the Honda from spray while on the swim platform, It would also be a storage box with the deck plates in place so I can keep the gas fumes with the generator. Thanks for the input I think that I will give the Honda a try. Besides you can use it anywhere, just have to remember to bring it to the boat when you need it.

Yandina marine on line has an article in their projects section about using an oil less small air compressor for that purpose. It looks like it would work and would be the budget sensitive way to go.

I think that Pete had glassed in rack behind the hatch that he installed in the shower. The tanks sit upright against the hull in the void starboard of the shower stall. Hey and if Pete didn’t do it maybe I had an original idea.
No way

Thanks, I had been to radio shack but not asked for the right thing I guess.
When I looked at the install kits they had ato type fuses and radio shack
didn’t have any 1 amp fuses.
I went to the convenient radio shack not the bigger one, so guess where I’m
off to now.Thanks

ParticipantWhen I replaced mine the ring that held the plexi just crumbled. I replaced the whole thing with a piece of lexan the same size as the aluminum. I just sealed it with 4200 and have had no problems.

I was limited by the battery and the muffler as to the size of the mirror.
I also have a vent whistle in the bag that I bought years ago. I thought
that cutting the copper tube and installing rubber hose would be a pain.Linus

ParticipantTorn rotator cuff. I guess from lifting the 50 lb inverter while lying on my back trying to reach in the wiring closet. Makes it hard to sleep, but the advice from the docs at the bar ” you just gotta work through it “. Also like Joe said, only they suggest red wine instead of rum and vicodin.
I have to agree with Bob Fine’s comment about Jack Rabbit marine from his blog. Peter was very helpful when I was looking to buy. The web site is helpful and encourages you to call for advice. I purchased a Victron Multiplus inverter charger, remote control, some fuses, buss bars, battery switch and an ACR. I received most of my order in two weeks. The inverter did not show up for a while. My emails did not get answered and by the time I finally got through on the phone I was worried. I received the inverter and remote and the next day I got another inverter with a packing slip that said the remote control was on back order. I shipped the second one back and they reimbursed me for the shipping. When I got to the boat with the battery switch the breaker for the house power was broken. After two tries I got a replacement that would fit in the panel. At this point I realized from being in the service sector that I was becoming ” that customer “. I finally got the inverter in and wired on Friday. The installation instructions are minimal but it is fairly simple to install an inverter. The temp sense was the last thing that needed to be wired and the screw blocks on the circuit board of the inverter are missing. I was in a hurry because I needed to get back home to work and got frustrated and just left. It’s possible that the blocks are in the plastic bag that had the fuses and instructions in it. But I didn’t look, in a hurry you know. Now I think that if I don’t turn on the charger the temp sense wire not being hooked up will not matter and I still can go on with the engine install. Hopefully the blocks are in the bag. No joy, I checked today and they are missing. I called at 09:30 and again at 16:15 and no answer. Maybe I’m paranoid but I think I’ll borrow a waitress’s phone tomorrow and see if they will answer.
I have stripped out a ton of old wires. The wiring from the Lectra San is going to lighten the boat enough to even out the weight for the extra batteries.
I just gotta say I envy Rich for having the boat in the back yard, I have to drive an hour and a half to the boat; and Pete for his organizational skills he gets more done in a weekend traveling from Colorado than I get done in three months. Pete someday I’d love to see the air compressor/ generator installed it looks like a fantastic item.
Just needed to vent, hope I didn’t tie up your email
Today is the day! I tossed ten gallons in the new tank and then on to the boat yard to drop in the engine.New engine room with muffler and air cooled battery box.
I had to extend the back wall to hang the inverter in the wiring closet.
The pins above the battery cable is where the temp sense should hook up
I’ve never had an original idea but I steal the best. Mirror copy of Rich’s design.
Finally made it to the boat yard

Be sure to look up at the towndock.net harbor cam and wave. I’ll try to make it down to see you off on Friday. I hope to get the engine set in the boat that afternoon. Then let it sit on the bed till Monday before aligning it.
