I thank my lucky stars our tank did not leak this summer. Thanks (tanks?) for the great photo. The more I study the replacement issue, the more I’m resigned to lose a few gallons.
Are you getting a new tank fabbed. Or thinking about a repair of the old. Can the old tank be made to cradle bladders? Cut yours off short and put a shorter new tank back in? Then maybe add small bladder to add capacity.

Just thinking out loud, sorry I don’t have the answer, the whole fuel tank issue makes me thirsty, now where is that rum. BTW saw a pic with Pat and about 7 empty glasses, allegedly they once held 7 flavors of rum.

with the main up and pulled in hard, per my friends advice, I retied the verticals to lightly touch the leeward side of the main with no pressure to affect sail shape. Seems to work great and even lowered on a dead downwind the other day. Now I have to trim the excess cord and take the amsteel off the forward bail or maybe just cut in the middle and secure to the forward bail up near the bolt running thru the boom. Something like that.

Just yesterday I installed LJs using small 1/8 dacron cord as 3 verticals threaded about 12 inches into the hollow of 7/64 amsteel. wrapped approx 10 inches from mast on the spreaders and then back towards the forward bail. Looks great and today I will raise and lower to test with no wind dockside. Will tweak some under sail, this is a simple low cost system with no blocks and very little chaff oppurtunity. Later after it all settles in will remove the knots from the verticals and let the “chinese finger” effect hold the cord in the amsteel. The fellow helping me has this on his main and removed his topping lift, I’m not ready for that but it is a possibility. Our life aboard will be MUCH easier and the main will get much more use. Up next the mizzen LJs.

thanks for the invite and though you never can tell, we hope to be way north, maybe the Broughtons or who knows where. As I write this, we are in Fox Cove, Sucia Island, clearing into Canada on Sunday. We had Alaska as an original goal, but it is a long trip and we prefer to smell some roses. Plans are in jello and if we came back early the meet up would be great. Last of our Sprint hotspot here at Sucia and then we will update the blog as we beg borrow or steal wifi signals.

Our stern had 3 mounts, just removed, and the top near center was crinkled all around. I would vote metal or ply/epox backing.

Ours is disconnected, so far so good. I would think if it were to get hot, it would not take very long. We have motored for long periods, 6+.

Love this sunshine, but the morning 30s have got to go. Where’s my global warming, we need our share up here.

So where are we going to attach the cunningham. to the mast or deck.

Wait for it………….. I’m in the same boat you are.

All kidding aside, my sailmaker said the same, get that cunningham working.

Just a side note, not worthy of a thread, removed the paddle wheel for the knot meter today, nice hole in the boat.

Ok got it, unwilling to give up gallons so out comes the engine. Guess I knew the answer after measure of the lazzerette opening. Tank not leaking, but do not want to be remote when it does, 31 years on a tank is prob enough. Coastline here in Bellingham gave a fair price for 2 tanks so one should be better.
That tank under the sole is great but can’t make it happen right now.

The bladder question is a good one and can probably be worked out.

Thanks Joe for the speedy reply.

Timely, as our starboard top lifeline just broke during haulout. Glad it wasn’t during crisis cause the water is chilly up here. Will go with bare wire as thick as will fit. 1/4 seems small to the hand.
