the v birth is ready to upgrade . should i reinforce the bow with stringers and then attach wood slates to them or should i use vinyl and foam from sailright. I am using fiberglass board (cheap home depot stuff) to mount at the top using original teak trim. its the sides i am wondering about

We recently recovered ours using the white vinyl with foam backing from sailright.
We did not reinforce the bow. I didn’t have the time or energy for that project and we don’t plan to sail off shore. We’ve not had issues with oil canning in the Chesapeake Bay.
      Looks and feels good.

Just completed the job of reinforcing the bow – plan to be going offshore next year.

Have a close look at the shelf and how well it is attached to the hull and anchor locker bulkhead. Mine had separated toward the front end indicating that the flexing had done some damage.

The worst part of the job was the preparation, dust and fibre all over the place! In your case, you are nearly there, adding stringers etc is just another phase of the work without the itchy dust! It will also give you peace of mind when bashing to windward.
