ParticipantAre there any 424 owners interested in a raft up in the southern Chesapeake
Bay this spring/summer/fall?
There are 3 – 424s in the Mobjack Bay/ York River area that I know of.
There are others in Deltaville, Onancock and Cape Charles.
There are many great anchorages between Reedville and Yorktown.Rick

ParticipantI will be on my way north in June and back south in october. Anchorages in
the Piankatank, Rappahannock, Great Wicomico, Patomac, and Patuxent will be
on my way north and south. Not to mention Onancock, Pocomoke, Crisfield on
the eastern shore, plus Tangier and Smith Islands. I plan to cruise back to
many of those locations and others this summer. On Tue, Mar 29, 2011 at 9:34 PM, Robert Fine wrote:

Hi Rick,
I have had my boat at the Severn River Marina for almost two years. I lived aboard for two and one half years, however moved to Newport News a little over two years ago. I have pretty much reworked the interior and recently replaced all the hoses and belts on the diesel. I did not sail my boat last year. I am having a new bimini and full cockpit enclosure fabricated by Signature Canvas in Hampton. They installed the framework a couple of weeks ago and made the pattern for the bimini. The weather has not been favorable for them to get the job done. They thought it would be complete before March 31. My lady is retiring the end of May and we plan to spend the summer and fall playing on the Bay. I am contemplating moving the boat to Salt Ponds Marina in the fall when my contract with Severn expires. I was spoiled by floating docks and that is why Salt Ponds will probably be my new marina.
Cheers,BobQuote:Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2011 12:05:57 -0400Post generated from Pearson424 Forum using Mail2Forum

It looks like we need to plan something in September when Bob Fine is in the
Chesapeake.
*Bob Fine* – I usually take a 1-2 week cruise in September. As we get closer
to September we’ll need to look at dates.
*Bob Hawkins* – Eclipse is in the water at Severn River Marina now. We plan
to take her back to Mobjack Bay Marina this weekend (not sure which day).
How is the entrance to Salt Ponds? At one time it was pretty tricky getting
in and out of there.
*Capt Bill Tice* – don’t you keep Charisma in the Deltaville area? We have a
week off June 11-19 and will be anchoring in Fishing Bay or Reedville on the
weekends as we go North and again on our return. Maybe we could get together
then.
Regards
Rick

ParticipantSince I may not be heading south of the Patuxent until October, my preferred
September location would be closer to the Potomac or even north of there.
Reedville isn’t one of my favorite places, at least when the Menhaden plants
are processing. However there are lots of anchorages on the Great Wicomico
that are not so close to the plants. Also consider anchorages on the
Potomac – Coan River, Yecocomico River, St. Marys River, and Smith Creek.
I’m also up for any of the anchorages in Fleets Bay.On Tue, Apr 5, 2011 at 10:15 PM, Rick Dugger wrote:

Hey Rick, Saw Eclipse yesterday. The main channel to Salt Ponds was dredged to 8-9 feet depth and 150 width in February. Dredging for the channel into the marinas is taking place this month. September raft up sounds great.Bob

As September gets closer, we’ll find a suitable location.
I’ve been anchored in the creek at Reedville when the wind shifted and blew
the “smell of money” our way… whew it was not pleasant!Rick

Hello RICK, & ALL-
Yes, Deltaville is CHARISMA’s hm-port – Stingray Harbor Marina, slip A-30.
A September raft-up is best for me, and can arrange to be off from WEST
with a two week notice. I’m flexible regarding location. Fishing Bay, off the
Piancatank (SP) would be a good choice (except for John, perhaps), and I
could park a car ashore to be available for anyone. But whatever the group
decides is best for me.
Rick, Please get in touch just before you come to Deltaville in June.
CHARISMA may still be slip-bound, awaiting the return and/or installation of
her new heat exchanger from SEN-DURE. Incidentally, thanks everyone, for your
advice in the matter. Rather than go directly thru SEN_DURE ($538=
Cupro-Nickel), I bought it for $475, inclu shipping through GO2MARINE, the
internet division of
Mariner Supply, Inc.

Hi to All,
Sorry I am a little late jumping into this discussion – we have been out of
pocket for awhile. We live in Onancock – across from Deltaville – on the Eastern Shore of
Virginia. Jubilee is berthed at the Town Marina – very small. There is a
nice large anchorage with good holding. We would be interested if dates
work.Anyone down this way plan on a stop in a great little town with some nice
eating. We will show you around – we have wheels available.Cada

There are 3 – 424s in the Mobjack Bay/ York River area that I know of.
There are others in Deltaville, Onancock and Cape Charles.
There are many great anchorages between Reedville and Yorktown.

ParticipantCada,
Haven’t been to Onancock for at least 20 years. Of course that is very near
Crisfield as well. I destroyed more brain cells in that harbor than I could
ever afford to lose on repeated visits over Labor Day. Larbor Day …
September, maybe I can give up a few more brain cells, not like I can take
them with me. One more destination to consider.Regards,
