Has anyone had experience in replacing their lower bearing in the skeg for the rudder?? We are experiencing movement at the bottom of the rudder which causes an occassional knock. I am lifting on Tuesday to try and sort this out in French Polynesia. Welcome some first hand advice.

I moved your post to the general discussion forum in hopes of driving more responses to it. Don’t know if you dove in and ensured the rudder knock was happening at the bottom but there is also a bushing at the top that can come loose and cause vibrations.

See the bottom of this page: Rudder Stuffing Box and Bushing

The movement is definitly lower bushing in the bottom of the skeg. If anyone has replaced theirs I would be interested in any tips. Many thanks in advance.

Did you sort it out with the boat out of the water? Curious to know what the end results were…
