ParticipantIn case anyone attempted to download the Layout A spreadsheet, it appears to be corrupted. You will likely get a message that the digital signature is invalid and that Macros are turned off, which means the software will not run. I think the problem is in the layout diagram in the spreadsheet. When I had virus problems last week Norton AV found a problem with the file that contained the Layout A diagram. I thought I deleted it and replaced it, but it appears there is still a problem. So for now I've turned off the download link for the layout A spreadsheet and the PowerPoint diagram. The Layout B files and the Sarah files appear to be fine.
I did find a bug in the Edit Form during my testing and I've uploaded a new version a few minutes ago. After this the spreadsheets will have version numbers that will display on the commandbar and user forms. On Tue, Apr 8, 2008 at 10:02 AM, John Stevenson < ()> wrote:
You guys are so bored you're feeding a thread on Hot Water heaters so I thought I'd give you something to do.
I've put the Inventory workbook up on my website so you can download just the version in which you are interested. If you just want to try it out before you invest any time entering you own inventory you can down load Sarah's partial inventory. I've scanned all of these files with Norton AV and it tells me they are clean. I did find several viruses on my system that day, but none in the spreadsheets.
The link to the web page is http://www.svsarah.com/Sailing/ewInventory.htm
The links to down load the workbooks are on this page. There are also several pages on how to use and modify the workbook. There are still several things to complete, but I believe the basic inventory maintenance functions are complete. If there is something you'd like to have that isn't in this release let me know. I'll add it if I can. Obviously let me know if something doesn't work for you. Before I invest more time in development I'm going to complete my inventory on Sarah to see if I can break any of the code when the database gets to 500-600 items.
Now if it would just stop raining here I make progress on my real boat projects.

I have not been able to get the file past my security. No matter what I do macros are disabled. I have to admit that I thought we would have to use MS Access in order to be able to do searches.
Thanks for all the hard work

ParticipantLinus,
Also if you go to the Excel menu Tools/Macro/Security, what security level do you have set?On Wed, Apr 9, 2008 at 5:42 PM, John Stevenson < ()> wrote:

I am using Vista and 2007 Office. There is no tools that I see, there is a “trust center”. I will try to adjust the settings there. I enabled macros and didn’t get the security notice. When the file opens it is read only and in compatibility mode. Should I try saving it in excel and see if it updates the formulas?

ParticipantLinus,
Fortunately or unfortunately I have never touched Vista so I don't know how the security works (or doesn't work). If you are trying to load the Layout A workbook, discard it. There seems to be a persistent problem in that file. If you are trying the Layout B or Sarah inventory workbook, I at least know I can download it and it works under XP and Office 2003.
Maybe saving it under Vista will enable the macros, give it a try. I'll look into the compatibility issues between office 2003 and 2007/Vista.Sorry this wasn't a clean load. If that doesn't work I'll see if can borrow a friends Vista machine and try the workbook in that environment myself.
