      Hello all,

I’m trying this post again now that the e-mail may be functioning. Received no responses before, which I’m pretty sure is due to no one seeing it.

I’m about to pull the trigger on a flex-o-fold prop for Blue Moon. I currently have the standard fixed pitch 3-blade, 20″, with 13″ pitch, Columbian style ‘E’ (I have no idea what this last part means) which appears to be the original set up from the factory. I think a lot of you are running 19″props (vice 20″) nowadays. Any advice on prop size/pitch? BTW, I have the Westerbeke W58. Thanks!…

      David,

We replaced the fixed prop with a three blade Gori two years ago. What I did not expect was BETTER performance in reverse, but this has definitely been the case. There is more thrust and less prop walk. I think the reason is that the Gori presents the power face of the blade to the water in reverse, like a feathering prop but unlike any other folding or fixed prop. Because of the way the blades pivot, water pressure helps to hold the blades open in reverse, at least a little. The “overdrive” feature is handy too.
