Start of attached email. Subject: Pics. Administrator or general inquiry
I’ve tried to post a couple pics of my new A/C install, but can’t figure out how to post more than one. Spent an hour tring to compress to the allowed size, but still unable to post. I think others have had difficulties also. Does anyone know an easy way or could the administrator allow a larger size and more that one? Thanks, Cindy Stein

ParticipantHi John. I don’t see your pics. I have an iPad and iPhone and use the pics from my library. Get a message from 424 site that one can only use pics up to 700 Kbps. The 3 pics I wanted to post total 3.5 mb. Thanks for trying, Cindy

So, John, who’s the redhead in the first one? Tell her I’m looking for crew.
BTW, when any of you 424-ers email or post photos to this group (and in general), it is a great kindness to those of us with marginal wifi connections to first re-size them down to 1000 pixels width or less.
Thanks,
Tor

she’ll show up. That pic was from a Cubs game in 2014.Go Cubbies!

ParticipantI went into FAQ on this website and read thru it all. Pictures are not allowed! Just attachments of 700kbs. Only way to post pics are thru individual’s personal website, which I don’t have. Sure would be nice if the administrator could change this. Lots of 424 owners don’t have web sites. John, I assume Tor could see your pics because you sent him a personal e mail. Regards, Cindy Stein

Cindy,
Those pics were sent only to the maillist. I assume Bob or someone let it
go through.
Interesting that the waiting on approval message I got referenced a 5mb
file limit not 700KB. Must be part of my senior citizen privileges.Regards,

Cindy,
I saw John’s pics because he attached them to an email he sent to
the whole 424 owners group at . I don’t
recall the mechanics of adding your email address (on the
website) to the “receive” list for these forum emails, but I find
it the easiest way to keep up and correspond. Apparently, it’s
also the easiest (if not the only, from what you say) way to
share photos with everyone.Tor

Working on a new system with a programmer in India – will be much better for both emails, pictures and mobile access.
Started today, so it’s going to take a few weeks, but we’ll be moving to the WordPress platform and setting up image handling on a much simpler way.
Good things coming (finally!!)

Ah, now I understand. Cindy was trying to post pics to the website not the
emaillist. That also explains the difference between the max file sizes.
The 700KB limit on pics to the website seems to be very restrictive. Not
much detail in a 700KB pic unless it is a tight close up. I agree with
Roger, we should have a means to donate to those incurring the cost of the
website. Paypal would be my preference.Regards,
John Stevenson

Ewan,
I’m with Roger…show me a donation button and I’ll press it. 🙂Has the web-based forum been off line for 5 months or so? Hopefully the
full repository gets moved over…that’s a heck of a lot of institutional
knowledge (from those that should possibly be institutionalized)!Evan

ParticipantNot sure who the administrator is, evanoleary? But good news the forum will be updated to add pics! Member list could use some updating also. Thanks. I tried to join the email list yesterday but so far have been unable to. I was on the email list when I first bought my 424 in 1999, but found getting 5-15 emails a day not to my preferences. Much nicer to just check the forum when I want and go to a subject of interest. Thanks everybody for the input! Regards, Cindy
