      Aloha All:
It’s that time again and I can’t find the records from our last bottom painting. We keep our 424 ketch in Honolulu and West will probably be the supplier. I would like to use Petit Trinidad SR and, being on an island, I just want to make sure that I have all I need so everything is in the right place at the right time. Can anyone give me an approximate number of gallons that I’ll need. I don’t mind buying more than necessary, I just don’t want to get caught short.

      Thanks!

I think it depends on your bottom paint. I buy 2 gallons and usually have a half-gallon left.

      Dan,
I just put SR on mine last Nov …
It took just a little over 3 1/2 gal. for two solid coats…
Thought I could do it with 3 and had to go back and buy another gallon..
I then foolishly left it out of the water for months and now I have to paint it again..
With SR you only have 60 days or less to launch.. (putting on soft paint this time..)

I used Micron CSC and it took about 2-1/2 gallons for two coats plus a third at the bow and waterline

We use the West Marine Pro product. Goes on nicely. We buy 3 gallons and apply 2 coats, then use what’s left over for extra around the waterline.
