First off, I would like to thank you for adding me to your group. My wife and I purchased “Beluga”, hull #15, a few weeks ago in Galveston, Tx and we are now live aboards in Kemah ( well she is anyway while I’m stuck out in the oilfields of west Texas gathering the remaining funds for an extensive refit and cruising kitty !).

I would like to add a generator during the refit and am curious where do most people mount them ? How many Kw’s are really necessary ? The generator will be mainly used for a water maker and running the A/C’s on balmy summer nights. I do plan on having 600 watts of solar and a wind generator so hopefully daily battery tops will be very limited. Thanks again….

My advice would be to forget the water maker and AC, then you can forget the generator. Just use the solar and wind. Less complications and less pollution…..
