I am buying exhaust hose and I found out that the
surplus hose man on eBay is located in my home town.
He said that soft wall hose is fine. All the hose
that I have looked at before is wire reinforced.
His is less than half price and is in stock here in
town. Is soft wall marine exhaust hose OK to use?Linus

It’s this guy and the good thing is that I can actually reach out and touch
him since he’s local.

ModeratorHi Linus,
I'm going to throw my two cents in here – there are standards for exhaust hose for marine use. Check this link: http://www.tridentmarine.com/stage/askbill.htm
Use certified wet exhaust hose. Reinforced or not isn't the correct question. Hose that meets the standards is.
All I'm saying here is make sure that wherever you get the hose, it's meant for and can withstand extremely high temperatures.

Thanks for the good resource, it looks like the soft wall is for shorter runs than the one on the 424.

When I bought exhaust hose, it came in two types, stiff and extra stiff. I paid extra for the stiff hose (series 252) because I had to bend it. I wouldn’t screw around with exhaust hose to save a couple of bucks.. Your life may depend on it.http://www.richardcarter.net/repower/My_Homepage_Files/Page21.html

ParticipantNo, this guy goes buy the name of Marinesurplus77 or
CapatinsSurplus.
He advertises 5.00 for shipping shipping on his 1st
page. Then when you purshase the item, he charges 1.00
per extra item. SO, in my case, it was 5.00 PLUS a
dollar per foot of hose. Each foot of the same hose
was another item.
I thought 29.00 for shipping 25 feet of hose was a
little outragous.
