Has anybody installed an electric head. This is the only boat equipment request my wife has had in 4 years. I’d like to install something that doesn’t need any modification of the original footprint. Will a house bowl size fit? I’ve got to get a new auto pilot at some point. I’m gonna install a new head before I spring the AP $$$$$ cost on her!!
      thanks/Jack

If you have the Raritan PHii head, I believe there is a conversion kit to
make it electric – becomes a PHEII I think.

My best investment ever for the wife was a compost head toilet.Installed it 3 months ago-removed all hoses to and from.Eliminated all the nasty odors.
The unit separates liquid and solid waste.I had an extra water pump and with a small hose attached into the liquid waste container, and semi-permanent installation with a switch, and installed under the sink, pump it overboard whenever it starts to fill up.The biggest disadvantage of the unit is how quickly a beer drinker can fill up the liquid unit.Especially if you have beer drinking friends on board. The pump solves the problem.Otherwise it is easy to get splashed when dumping the unit, even in a toilet and living aboard it fills up every few days.I have not had to empty the solids compost portion yet,and it has been used, especially when offshore and at the dock for night time emergencies.Wife loves it-especially when we were in Stuart,Fl and the very end of the Loggerhead marina-like a 10 minute walk to the marina restrooms.
      No more holding tank!
Peeing takes no effort! Flows directly into the liquid bottle- just spray some water after complete to eliminate a build up.No pumping,no electric flushing. No pumping/flushing noise at night when someone uses the head that typically wakes up everyone on the boat.

I had a PHE-II electric head. I removed the electric motor and left it as a manual head. Its easier and quicker to pump the thing by hand.

IMHO, an electric pump on your head is just something else to break. If you have a good manual head, it should flush easily.

      Rich,

I think you’re confusing practical/logical/rational with pleasing the
      wife.
